Children & Youth
Healthy lifestyle training should start in childhood to promote improved cardiovascular health in adult life. Part of a healthy lifestyle is regular physical activity and The Fitness Center at South Shore Harbour is here to help your child become an active individual!
There are numerous ways to be an active youth at The Fitness Center so every child can pursue an avenue of activity that is of most interest for them. It can be something structured, such as a group tennis class or a private swimming lesson. We also have more informal activities available. They can check-out a basketball from the Front Desk and shoot some hoops or practice their running skills on either the indoor or outdoor track.
If they are interested in strength training, we have a Young Member Orientation they can go through. The Young Member Orientation is a structured strength training program written by one of our fitness instructors for children between the ages of 10 to 12. Just schedule the Young Member Orientation at the Front Desk to get your child set-up on a safe and age-appropriate strength training routine!
The Fitness Center also offers two group exercise classes specifically for children. S.H.A.K.E. is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 pm for kids ages 5 -9 (45 minutes). Children learn fundamentals of exercise through aerobic games and active play. You may bring your child specifically for the class, or you may put your child in one of our child care areas and your child can attend the class while you workout. Just let the child care staff know if your child wishes to attend S.H.A.K.E. For younger children we offer Tiny Tots on Fridays at 9:30 am. Tiny Tots is for kids under 5 and their parents.
Child care is offered to our members with a two hour limit per day.
